Urban Garden Design in St Albans, Hertfordshire

Transforming a Town House Garden Into an Outdoor Retreat

When a home is elegant, its garden should be too. This St Albans townhouse garden presented Gardenproud with a wonderful opportunity — to take an ordinary outdoor space and transform it into a sophisticated, modern retreat that felt like a natural extension of the home.

The result is a garden that turns heads and stops time. A space designed for living, entertaining, growing, and playing — all at once.

A Design Centred Around a Stunning Oak Pergola

Every great garden needs a focal point, and here it’s an impressive oak pergola that draws the eye the moment you step outside. Crafted with care and built to last, it adds warmth, structure and a touch of luxury that anchors the entire design.

To complement it, a sleek elongated pond was carefully positioned alongside a copper fountain — bringing movement, sound and a sense of calm to the space. It’s the kind of detail that transforms a garden from beautiful to truly memorable.

Outdoor Living, Kitchen Garden and Play Space

Great garden design is about more than aesthetics — it’s about how a space actually works for the people who use it. This garden was designed with the whole family in mind.

A generous entertaining terrace laid in porcelain tiles provides the perfect setting for al fresco dining and relaxed summer gatherings. A practical kitchen garden with a dedicated greenhouse gives the family the joy of growing their own fresh produce. And a thoughtfully designed children’s play area means the youngest members of the family have a safe, enjoyable space of their own.
